Adam McWillie used this canteen while serving in both the Mexican and Civil Wars. McWillie served in Company G of the 18th Mississippi Infantry and was killed during the Battle of Manassas on July 21, 1861 and his death was reported on July 22, 1861. Adam was the eldest son of William McWillie who served as Governor of Mississippi from 1857 to 1859.
