As part of the Archaeology Program series, Winterville Mounds director Mark Howell will present an illustrated talk entitled “Sonic Examination of Rattles from the Lake George Site.” Rattles, also called noisemakers, were found at the at the site and Howell will discuss their possible role in the ritual behavior of the people who built and used the Lake George ceremonial mounds.
