A crowd came out to greet the train of former President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) in McComb (Pike County) on March 11, 1911. Roosevelt would go on to run for president again in 1912. Perhaps this was an early publicity stop to garner support?

Speaking of trains, our Railroad Depot Post Card Collection has a number of images of train depots from around the state, many of which can be viewed in the Online Catalog. Simply type in “Railroad Depot Post Card Collection” on the search page, and when viewing the individual records, click “Link to Electronic Record” to view the photograph. This image of the Illinois Central Depot in McComb is from that collection.
