After Katrina, department staff went down to the Coast to help with recovery efforts, working long hours and making the round trip between Jackson and the Coast every day. Archives & Records Services Division employees helped salvage documents and artifacts from local libraries, museums, courthouses, and churches. (Not shown here, but Historic Preservation Division staff went to document damage to buildings.) Archives staff member Preston Everett took these photographs in Biloxi and Pascagoula, Mississippi.
For more photographs taken by MDAH staff, see the Hurricane Katrina Photographs online exhibit.
